Donkelope

I saw a Donkelope bike last week in Portland. Hammered fenders, wooden rims, file tread sew ups. Definitely not what you're getting these days in the stores.

I'm seriously considering a custom bike because I have such a long torso and short legs. I'd be curious to hear your thoughts on picking a builder. I couldn't care less about picking a bike that impresses people, but want to move away from 13-cm stems!

Go with a local builder who will take your measurements or at least meet with you to discuss your specific needs. Examples for you would include Steelman, Rock Lobster and Sycip. I own a GURU but first received a professional fitting before sending off my measurements. One builder that specializes in non-standard geometries is Zinn in Colorado.
